Canbury Patients' Group (CPG)

Is for patients, run by patients

The CPG welcomes patients who wish to help and support the practice with the aim of ensuring the patient voice is heard and make it work for you. CPG activities may include:

  • Feedback about the services provided by the practice and suggested improvements or modifications.
  • Recruitment of volunteers to support other patients, for example lonely/elderly, bereaved, stressed/depressed.
  • Newsletters with information about the Practice and articles of interest.
  • Health Education sessions with guest speakers.
  • Action group on national/local health services’ issues.
  • An Information Resource Centre

Open Meeting of 14 March 2012 was very well attended and had two guest speakers:

  • Edith Todd of the National Association for Patient Participation (NAPP) explained what PPGs do and how they work
  • Dr Judy Kane gave a talk on the Web site Healthtalkonline, which is an award winning Web site that brings patients together to discuss and research health issues. Judy was until recently a partner in the Canbury Medical Centre and is on the Board of Trustees of Healthtalkonline
